LOG-08 Production Logistics

The most missing resource for logistics specialists is time (it does not mean they have much time). When you continue the discussion and ask them what is the proportion of working time they allocate to problem solving, quite often the answer is above 50%. The following question: “What do you do with that?” will terminate the discussion.

Serial logistics functionally also chronologically follows the project logistics. If the project logistics is underestimated, then serial logistics suffers every year after. Often project documentation or information is missing and robust work is replaced by daily operative business. The training module “Serial Logistics” deals with the main tools the serial logistics specialists should know and recommends how to use them so that they serve us and we do not serve them.

Your needs are:

  • Minimize the time at work you allocate to problem solving

  • Take over well prepared projects to the mass production

  • Get all necessary documents and information

  • Know the most important logistics tools for mass production
and use them in an efficient way

  • Continuously improve the logistics processes

LOG-09 Logistics Protocol

The root cause of logistical problems between the production plant and its customers but even more with sub-suppliers is the ambiguity of the conditions of cooperation – frequency of EDI communication, flexibility of deliveries, “lead time”, communication language and tools, missing back-up procedures, penalties for logistics claims, etc.

Logistics protocol is a tool requested during logistics audits and its preparation and standardization may help the supplier avoid many issues and continuously improve the existing standard. At the end of the module each participant will leave the module with a concept of logistics protocol that can be used as internal template especially vis-à-vis the suppliers.

  • Improve the communication with customer and the suppliers

  • Create a Logistics protocol template that can be immediately
used in plant and on all projects

Target group:

  • Key Account Manager

  • Project Logistics

  • Serial Logistics

  • Project managers

  • Purchasing

  • Functional Managers

Training content:

  • The role of logistics protocol in the automotive industry

  • Basic content of the logistics protocol

  • Analysis of the main topics of the protocol

LOG-06 Logistics Problem Solving and Claim Management

The customer issues a logistics claim. This is received in the supplier’s plant by a Quality engineer who after a short analysis, and with relief, forwards the claim to the logistics department and asks for an action plan. Logistics, often without using any recommended problem solving method, defines the problem root cause, proposes an action plan, sends it back to the Quality engineer who updates customer’s b2b portal. The logistics claim is closed, invoice paid and everybody is satisfied. Until the next logistics claim is issued.

For some a funny story, but this happens in many companies who focus mostly on quality claims. In the training module “Logistics problem solving and claim management” we deal only with logistics claims impacting communication (EDI, portal b2b,…), part reception or impacting the production at the customer site. The participants will be able to use basic problem solving tools, manage the logistics claims in an efficient way so that the problems will not repeat again.

Your needs are:

  • Manage the logistics claims in a robust way

  • Be able to use the basic problem solving tools on logistics claims

  • Set more efficient process of logistics claims management

  • Avoid repeated claims and reduce cost (invoices, taxis, …)

  • Improve the logistics processes in the company

Target group:

  • Logistics (customer contact)

  • Logistics (produrement)

  • Internal Logistics

  • Quality

  • Functional Managers

Training content:

  • Overview of problem solving tools and methods in the automotive industry

  • Types of logistics claims

  • Application of selected methods on logistics claims, incl. 8D

  • Rules of logistics claims management

  • Communication with the customer

  • End of logistics claim treatment, Lessons Learned

  • Second day – workshop – every participant will send before the training session 2 logistics problems to solve. Group work using problem solving methods and tools.
